HEALTH CARE GUIDELINE FOR BABIES (0-1 MONTHS)

- Clinical diagnosis and the communication to parents (2) (2)

- Cytogenetic Analysis

- Clinical and neurological examination

- Review of congenital malformation (echocardiography, stomach echography etc. ) (3)

HEALTH CARE GUIDELINE FOR THE 1-ST YEAR (1-12 MONTHS)

Periodically - Clinical and neurological examination. Every 2 months
Evaluation of the appropriate foods and normal growth of the child with SD. Every 2 months
Echocardiography (if it wasn’t done after the birth).  
Echography- to check the problems of hearing and viewing. On the 6st month and the 12th
Blood analysis for thyroid, anemia, cell and immune system disorders. (7) 12 months
Vaccination according the rules of country.  
Consults with parents organizations and groups that support people with DS  
To be considered therapies & development centers.  
Continually psychological support from the family.  

 

HEALTH CARE GUIDELINE FOR THE AGE 1-6 YEARS

Clinical and neurological examniation. Twice per year
Examination of diet and obesity prevention. (periodically)(8)  
Examination of body development (periodically)  
Teeth controls Once per year
Orthopedic examination (RX for atlantoaxial instability / subluxation ). Once per year
Examination to test hearing and viewing (at the age 3 and 6 years old).  
Blood test for thyroid, anemia, celiac disease, immune system disorders etc. Once per year
Tonsillitis and adenoid hypertrophic (enlarged, respiratory, otitis’s etc.). Once per year
Vaccination according to the rules of country.  
Specific vaccination (to prevent flu, pneumonia etc.) If it is necessary
Recuperative programs (continually).  
Speech therapy support.  
Inclusion in social life (under the care of the mother).  

HEALTH CARE GUIDELINE FOR THE AGE 7-12 YEARS

Clinical and neuropsychiatric examination. Once per year

Special care of food diet and the prevention of obesity.

ORL control for enlarged tonsillitis (hypertrophic), respiratory problems, sleep apnea, otitis median (middle ear infection) etc. Once per year

Sexual development control and consults with parents.  
Psychological support for the family.  
Engagement in the school and entertainment activities.
