Opera Program/Concert

Down Syndrome Albania (DSA) Foundation, during the month of October, which is the International Month of Awareness for Down Syndrome, will organize on October 25th, 8:00 PM, at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet, an opera program/concert, made possible by Mr. Saimir Pirgu, the Albanian world-famous tenor and Down syndrome ambassador in Albania, as well as by the valuable contribution of maestro Zhani Ciko, soprano Mariana Leka, mezzo soprano Vikena Kamenica, baritone Armand Likaj and the symphony orchestra of the NTOB.

This concert is organized under the care of Mr. Erion Veliaj, Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
All proceeds from the concert ticket sales (around 1,000,000 Leke) will go to DSA Foundation toward offering specialized services to children and individuals with Down syndrome and their families in Albania.

The Month of Awareness for Down Syndrome, is organized for the first time in Albania with its primary purpose as its focus, awareness on the rights, needs and the potential of individuals with Down syndrome to be an integrated and active part of the community where they live.

The activities of DSA for October:
1. October 26, 2013 from 11:00 to 18:00 – Photographic exhibition of Robert Cem Osborn, the 16-year-old with Down syndrome representing Down Syndrome Turkey: Zeta Gallery
2. October 27, 2013 from 10:00 to 16:00 – Roundtable on the theme "Inclusive Education is still an unreachable reality in the Albanian education system." Organized by DSA with the support of Save the Children in Albania.
